Yes, I did it -- I finally finished the story banner I promised to sparrow2000 for her story Searching for Jim. I kept her waiting since January; I hope it's been worth the wait!

On top is the latest version. In my original versions (below) I had Jim as "the man in the moon" but on second thought, that was probably a bit too whimsical to fit the mood of the story. So I've revised it, and this is the result:

This is the original version:

And the second version with a lighter backdrop (and a slightly brighter Jim too):

And now I'm really going to stop making new versions!

Thanks, you're making me blush! But to be honest, I'm pretty pleased with it myself.

Thank you so much, Sue! Coming from such a talented artist as yourself, that's a wonderful compliment.

Terrific work, and really captures spirit of the story.

Thanks, I was hoping to convey the contemplative mood and intimacy between the two of them, and I'm glad to hear you think I succeeded.

Oh wow, I'll thrilled to bits with this. It's absolutely gorgeous, thank you so much love.

Hugs you very hard for being brilliant and goes back to staring at the pretty!

Hugs you again just because I can

Thank you, I'm so glad you like it! Especially after having made you wait so long for it.

If there's anything you'd like to see changed, please let me know. I could easily change the size and the text. I also thought maybe I should have made the background a bit lighter -- can you still even make out that it's Père Lachaise? (Then again, it *is* supposed to be night.)

ETA: OK, so I just went ahead and made an alternative version with a slightly lighter background. Just see which one you like best! You can find it HERE.

ETA2: Sorry, I can't seem to stop making alternatives. Here's another one, this time without Jim as "the man in the moon". This is my personal favourite so far, but of course it's your choice! Latest version is HERE.

Oh hells bells, I love them all.

I think the ones with the slightly lighter background on the trees have the edge, just to give a bit more contrast - but I love both Jim M in the moom and the one of him looking all moody as a full size face. I think I'm going to snag them both because they're both wonderful. The other one is too, but those two both really get under my skin

Hugs you again

I agree, the original version was a bit too bland with the overly dark background. Guess I was a bit too quick with posting that one! And snag away, they're all yours :-)

Hi love, for some reason I can't save the third one - any chance you can send me the link to that one in your photobucket and then I can download it?

Very nice! I love the moon! Great job!

Thank you! I liked the idea of having Jim look down on them; I just hope it wasn't too lighthearted to fit the story.

ETA: Actually, on second thought, I think it was a bit too whimsical. So I've revised the banner and am much pleased with the result. The moon is still there, just without Jim this time!

And now I'm really going to stop making new versions!

Whatever for? *lol* Of course I LOVE making revisions of my own banners so take that with a barrel of salt.

I feel like I'm the only one because most people post the "one and only" version but I often post several and let folks decide what they like best. Also, I find I often have to go through several revisions before the project decides what it wants to be.

Which is to say, revisions? bring 'em on! :D

Ha, thanks!

most people post the "one and only" version

Actually that's what I tried to do, but then I had second thoughts about the supposedly "one and only" version that I had posted, so I added another one and then another one :-)

Heh, I have 'second thoughts' like that all the time. and ever since kikimay snagged an alt of mine that I considered a "failure" I've come to realize that I have no idea what strikes people a certain way and why.

came out super nice DD - I love how you used Jim Morrison and you certainly did achieve your quality of friendship between them. With so often Xander being set in a "negative" perspective in many of the earlier stories and series, it's nice to seem them in this contrast.

Lovely piece.

Thank you Cil! I do think Xander and Spike could have become actual friends. I also like their current friendship in the comics.
